Exponential investment in ‘last-mile’ delivery firm, XeroE, as clean air zones roll out and race to zero heats up

XeroE (https://www.xeroe.co.uk/), the independent British emission-free transport platform responsible for urban deliveries has announced new investments of £500,000 amongst venture capital backed initiatives for cleaner air in city centres.

As London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone expands on 25 October 2021 and with further zones planned for Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and others; the demand for zero-emission last mile deliveries is set to rise exponentially. Further fuelling this investment is the expected demand from thousands of businesses setting emission reduction targets in the race to zero as the vast majority of industries make a conscious switch to greater sustainability strategies and governance.

XeroE, which had received backing from Bristol and Bath Regional Capital, Bethnal Green Ventures and SFC Capital, completed the round with an investment from the team behind wind turbine generator asset management  services Everun.

Steve Evans, CEO of XeroE, said: “We’re seeing a large proportion of companies that want to make their deliveries emission free but can’t because there simply aren’t enough emission-free delivery options. With this investment, XeroE is now in a position to fill that gap and make a significant contribution to urban air quality.”

XeroE provide same-day and next-day delivery services and aims to encourage businesses to switch to more sustainable, emission-free deliveries. Zero-emission deliveries help to improve air quality which is beneficial not only for climate change, but also healthier for the residents and workers operating in cities.

In this year alone, 264,130 carbon neutral deliveries were made by XeroE. This saved 79 tonnes of fossil fuel being burnt and adding 1,891 days of human life in London alone, saving the NHS a total of £12,199.99*. XeroE have worked with Imperial College so they can provide businesses and cities with detailed reports on how their deliveries are contributing to environmental, social and sustainable development goals and NHS savings.

Liam Dempsey, Everun Non-Executive Director commented on the investment saying: “Facilitating the reduction in carbon emissions has always been a key objective of Everun and its EV charging division, we are therefore excited to be part of a dynamic company like Xeroe who will have a positive impact on our urban environment.”

Schemes like XeroE are a great way of ensuring the freight vehicles on urban roads are efficient and lower impact. The XeroE fleet includes bicycles, cargo bikes, electric mopeds, e-cars and e-vans, all geared for effective urban delivery while tackling climate change, working towards making UK cities cleaner and greener places to live, work and breathe.

XeroE currently operates in London, Bristol, Bath and Manchester, with planned expansions into four new cities in Q1 of 2022.
