Residents in Nottinghamshire recycled so much in January that £1,836 has been raised as part of the Veolia (Nottinghamshire County Council’s waste contractors) Recycle for Charity Campaign for Nottingham Children’s Hospital which is based at the Queen’s Medical Centre. Paediatric doctors and nurses at the hospital care for over 60,000 babies, children and young people from across the region.
Throughout January, Veolia pledged to donate £2 for every tonne of recyclable plastic bottles and cans collected from kerbside recycling bins. The totals are in, 918 tonnes of recyclable plastic bottles and cans were collected so a superb total of £1,836 has been raised for this year’s Chairman’s Charity – Nottingham Children’s Hospital.
Councillor Sue Saddington, Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council, added: “This is a wonderful amount and will be well received by Nottinghamshire Children’s hospital, who give people vital support in their most difficult times. Thank you to everyone in Nottinghamshire for their hard work and commitment to recycling.’
