BigCommerce, a leading e-commerce platform for fast-growing brands and businesses, has given its customers single point access to the transport provider best suited to their needs by forming a partnership with international shipping software specialist SmartFreight.

COVID-19 has accelerated activity in the e-commerce sector with online sales making up an increasing amount of business’ turnover. BigCommerce uses the latest technology to help merchants negotiate the hustle and bustle of online operations and now offers a streamlined parcel delivery service after integrating SmartFreight’s carrier management system into its platform.

The first e-commerce vendor to partner directly with SmartFreight, BigCommerce customers across a range of industries such as electronics, jewellery and fashion, health and beauty and home and garden – to name just a few – will benefit from full functionality to ensure consignments are shipped quickly, cheaply or in an environmentally-friendly way. They will also have the advantage of access to over 550 different transport providers across the world, including some of the UK’s top carriers.

Russell Klein, chief commercial officer for BigCommerce commented: “Our partnership with SmartFreight illustrates our commitment to providing merchants access to the highest-calibre technologies and service providers in the industry. SmartFreight shares our desire to help merchants sell more and grow faster to maximise success. We look forward to working together to mutually support customers.”

Teaming up with SmartFreight reinforces BigCommerce customers’ brands via tracking email and portals, along with better reporting and financial controls through invoice reconciliation synchronising sales, payments and warehouse operations.

Optimising the shipping process through one channel will also positively impact BigCommerce customers’ overall efficiency by minimising human error, reducing time, duplication and costs on activities like order processing, picking, packing, labelling, shipping and tracking.

Hundreds of organisations across the UK and Ireland are already using the SmartFreight platform, particularly suited to e-commerce, distribution and manufacturing businesses for efficient and quick deliveries of goods.
