Moving Mountains® (www.movingmountainsfoods.com), the pioneering British food tech company, has partnered with food redistribution charity, City Harvest, to help reduce food waste and support communities across London during 2022.

Moving Mountains® has already donated over 2 tonnes of Moving Mountains products to the charity in 2021, which equates to over 5,000 meals which are delivered, by City Harvest, to Londoners facing food poverty. The donations also mean that over 8 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions were saved from entering the atmosphere, a cause closely supported by plant-based Moving Mountains®.

Moving Mountains® is driven by a long-standing passion to make a positive difference to the planet, and its founder Simeon Van der Molen launched the brand with a mission to bring real, radical change to people’s everyday diet by giving a plant-based alternative that is genuinely competitive in taste, texture and satisfaction to animal meat products. City Harvest rescues food, people and the planet, with a fleet of 17 vans delivering free nutritious food for over 1 million a month to 350+ charities.

City Harvest’s mission aligns closely with Moving Mountains® overall goal of living in harmony on a sustainable planet by tackling both food waste and food poverty. Since 2014, City Harvest has delivered food for over 30 million nutritious meals, with the demand only increasing as the cost of living rises and people flee from adversity.

Simon Van der Molen, Founder of Moving Mountains® says: “We have always been committed to our mission to help both people and the planet, so when the opportunity arose to work with City Harvest the Moving Mountains team were keen to get involved. As a mission-driven business, Moving Mountains is always looking for ways that we can reduce our environmental impact.

“The opportunity to prevent food waste, whilst also helping those across London who are most in need, made partnering with City Harvest an obvious decision. We jumped at the chance to give back to our own West London community and we hope to continue working with City Harvest in the future to support a cause that resonates so strongly with our own mission and values.”

Lewis McGivern, City Harvest Food Sourcing Manager, says: “Working with like-minded people like Moving Mountains® is always a delight. Our recipients are always in desperate need of high-quality protein foods, especially our 53 vegetarian and vegan charities, and everyone has been so grateful for these donations. Thank you for your commitment to food, people, and the planet.”
