Investing in Solar PV and Insulation, the Lincolnshire based business has reduced their energy consumption and lowered their carbon emissions.

The business’ efforts have been recognised by the government too, as shortly after they received a warm welcome to the SME Climate Hub.

The online retailer has also committed to joining The Climate Pledge; the cross-sector community committed to reaching net zero-carbon emissions by 2040.

They’ve made steps to ensure all of these actions will be reproducible and a focused effort too.

GiftsOnline4U are working with carbon neutral experts, in the hope that their changes will make a huge difference to their local community, and most importantly, the environment.

Their future plans include adapting packaging to be eco-friendly, as well as introducing enhanced production methods to offset their carbon footprint.

The 28 new solar panels are high spec, producing 7,786kwh of energy across 12 months, and will save the planet from 4,403kg of carbon every single year.

The panels were installed thanks to their ability to take the weight off of the business’ impact on the environment – but they also relieve the business of £1,400 per year on their electric bill.

Asgar Dungarwalla said: “It can be a really intimidating thing to confront your impact on the environment.

“For us though, it motivated us to do better and take the necessary steps to reduce our carbon footprint and create a healthier world for our kids to grow up in.

“However, for small businesses such as ourselves, the money needed to invest in big changes can feel out of reach, which is why we’re so grateful for the Smart Energy fund.”

Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire provided the online personalised gifts retailer a grant of £4,883 to be able to make these changes.

The £8.5 million Smart Energy programme has been part funded by the European Regional Development fund. This is enabling small to medium businesses across the Greater Lincolnshire area invest in energy saving technology.

Asgar continues: “Our plight to become a carbon neutral company doesn’t just stop there though. We have to continue to assess what we can do to help tackle climate change, one step at a time.”
