Anthesis, the largest group of dedicated sustainability professionals globally and one of the UK’s fastest-growing private companies, has appointed Charlie Nicholson as Global Chief Financial Officer. Charlie joins Anthesis’ Global Leadership Council and Board to collectively deliver on the ambitions of the business to activate the power of enterprise to build a living world for all.
A financial leader with a proven track record of accelerating profitable growth, operational efficiencies, and enterprise value, Charlie brings 30 years of experience in fast-paced global Professional Services and Pharmaceutical Supply Chain organisations. Most recently, as CFO and Board member at Softbox Systems, Charlie led the Finance and IT teams at the US Private Equity backed global packaging company, overseeing revenue and EBITDA growth of over 300% in his two-year tenure.
Prior to Softbox Systems, Charlie spent six years as CFO and a Board member of Premier Research Group, an international Contract Research Organisation, where he was responsible for the Finance, IT and Corporate Administration teams globally and led the financial aspects for two acquisitions.
Reporting to Anthesis CEO Stuart McLachlan, Charlie will work closely with Anthesis’ Global Leadership Council to navigate the financial health of the 1,100+ sustainability expert firm. With extensive international experience in Board, management and financial roles across private equity-backed businesses, Charlie will join Anthesis’ Board alongside Stuart McLachlan, Malcolm Paul (Chairman) and non-executive directors Beth Houghton and Tristan Craddock from Anthesis’ private equity partner, Palatine.
As Global CFO and supported by an established and high-performing team, Charlie will be responsible for the company’s financial, IT and data capabilities and performance as it continues its ambitious growth strategy and amplifies its impact in tackling the world’s climate emergency. In addition, Charlie will be a crucial player in Anthesis’ acquisition integration programmes with a foreseeable continuation of its buy-and-build strategy through 2023, adding to the 16 businesses that have successfully united to provide an unrivalled breadth and depth of sustainability solutions.
