On Monday evening, Ball Corporation was awarded The Zeelo Sustainable Supply Chain Award at the 28th Supply Chain Excellence Award.

The Zeelo Sustainable Supply Chain Award recognises organisations with environmental projects throughout the supply chain that use resources more efficiently and minimise waste. Ball was one of the 10 other leading companies across sectors including electronics, retail and public service shortlisted for the award.

To have won the award is a testament to Ball’s excellent sustainability initiatives in the supply chain, such as their Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) projects, which, between January 2023 and June 2024 resulted in a 1237-tonne reduction in CO2 through partnerships with two customers and two third-party logistics partners.

Other initiatives recognised through the award win include Ball’s provision of electric vehicles in the supply chain, and delivery of longer trailers on vehicles to increase capacity and reduce carbon footprint across EMEA.

In total, Ball’s sustainable logistics initiatives achieved a 7826-tonne CO2 reduction over the last 24 months.

Mark Haslam commented “We are deeply honored to receive this award. At Ball, we are dedicated to advancing our sustainable products through equally sustainable practices. As a global company, we understand that each region’s unique infrastructure and policies require tailored approaches and timelines. We want to thank our customers and partners for their support since for us, success hinges on collaboration across the entire ecosystem. We recognise the urgent need for sustainable transformation and look forward to expanding our initiatives to further reduce CO2 emissions and enhance the sustainability of our supply chains.”
